The 2009 race gets underway!

The 2nd Annual West Rock Challenge, a 9-mile/5k run to benefit Sleeping Giant Build, will be held Sunday, August 15, 2010. The location is Lake Wintergreen/West Rock Ridge State Park, Hamden.

Entry Fees:

• 9-miler:  $30 (before 7/15); $35 (7/16 to Raceday)
• 5k:  $20 (before 7/15); $25 (7/16 to Raceday)

Start Times:

• 9-miler:  7:30am
• 5k race:  7:45am

Course:
9-miler is mostly rolling hills on both single and double track (there is a lung burner) to the summit of West Rock). 5k is flat to rolling hills on both single and double track.

Race Awards:

• Top Three Finishers
• Male/Female Age Group:  15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70 & up
• King & Queen of the Rock: first male and female up to the summit

Massage:
Licensed massage therapists will be available for pre-race and post-race massage from 6:30am until 12:30pm.

Post-Race Celebration:
After the race, runners are invited to a post-race celebration with food and beverages.

T-Shirts:
CoolMax t-shirts will be given to the first 100 people registered.

Registration & Packet Pick-Up:
Register online at www.wrchallenge.com or www.runreg.org. Registration on the day of the event, as well as race packet pick-up will be held at Wintergreen School, 670 Wintergreen Avenue, Hamden, which is located a quarter of a mile from the park entrance. Portable Toilets:
Portable toilets will be located at Wintergreen School and at the park near race start.

The 15th Annual Robert J. LeFloch Memorial Golf Outing to benefit Habitat for Humanity of Greater New Haven and the Connecticut Building Congress Scholarship Fund will take place on Tuesday, September 21, 2010, at the beautiful Race Brook Country Club in Orange. Over the past 13 years the event has raised over $415,000. In addition to supporting Habitat and the CBC Scholarship Fund, the outing provides excellent opportunities for networking. Madison Cares will hold its annual fall “Build This House” Gala on Friday, September 24 beginning at 6:30pm at the Owenego Inn in Branford.
