Greater New Haven Habitat for Humanity

Court-Ordered Community Service

Habitat accepts a limited number of individuals who must fulfill a court-ordered community service requirement. The majority of our opportunities for community service are at our ReStore, located at 286 South Colony Road in Wallingford. The ReStore is open Tuesday-Sunday and full and half day shifts are available. ReStore volunteers assist customers, move furniture, and create displays on the sales floor. Construction site opportunities may be available depending on our group volunteer schedule. The construction staff is on site Tuesday-Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Individuals must volunteer for the entire day.

We do not place anyone charged with or convicted of a felony.

We do not accept applicants specifically charged with or convicted of the following:

  • Sex offenses
  • Domestic violence
  • Assault
  • Possession of drugs or controlled substances with or without intent to sell
  • Larceny/theft/burglary of any sort/breaking and entering
  • Arson
  • Violation of probation

Other non-felony offenses will be considered on a case by case basis.

Please contact Allison Mangles, Volunteer Coordinator, at (203) 785-0794 or amangles@habitatgnh.org to discuss your community service requirement.
