Help build a Habitat home–join our construction crew
Most Habitat volunteers join our construction crew and help build Habitat houses in the City of New Haven. We build year-round, Tuesday through Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. (Saturdays are reserved for volunteers belonging to our house sponsor groups; therefore, individual volunteers may have to wait for an available opening.) Our construction staff works alongside the volunteers and trains them for the tasks that are to be done that day. Most volunteers have little or no construction experience when they begin working. Minimum age for volunteering is 16.

Volunteer at our ReStore
The Habitat ReStore is located at 286 South Colony Road, Wallingford. At this time we have volunteer opportunities seven days a week. Volunteer shifts are three or four hours each depending on the day of the week.
Volunteers may expect to perform the following tasks at the ReStore: greeting and assisting customers, pricing, moving items, creating/updating displays, furniture and appliance repair, painting small items, answering questions from donors, cleaning, and general organizing.
If you are handy, like to organize stuff and can perhaps work one day a week, we would love to hear from you!
To sign up, please register as a volunteer through Volunteer Up by creating a username and password, and then go to the Volunteer Up calendar and sign up for the dates you wish to work under “ReStore”. You may sign up for multiple dates.
Volunteer in the Habitat office
Occasionally, we have opportunities in our office. Volunteers work with the Habitat office staff performing a wide range of administrative tasks. The office is open Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
