Greater New Haven Habitat for Humanity

Welcome!

Founded in 1986, Habitat for Humanity of Greater New Haven (an affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the elimination of poverty housing through the creation of homeownership opportunities for low-income working families. Habitat builds and rehabilitates homes in the Greater New Haven area with the goal of creating safe, decent, affordable houses that add to the revitalization of New Haven’s neighborhoods. Habitat accomplishes its mission by partnering with individuals, religious and civic organizations, local business and corporations.

Tell Your Leaders in Washington to Support Low-Income Homeownership

Please visit the Habitat International website at www.habitat.org to send an electronic message telling Washington not to cut support for low-income homeownership. These budget cuts will put future Habitat homes and neighborhoods at risk.

Thanks for taking the time. Your voice will make a difference.

Adam’s Blog for Scheduled Volunteers

To facilitate communication with scheduled volunteers concerning weather cancellations, work location, etc.,  Adam, our construction manager, maintains a blog at http://habitatgnhvols.blogspot.com/.  Please note: the blog is not a scheduling tool. It is a way for Adam to communicate with volunteers already scheduled.

(Please do not report to a site if you have not been scheduled! For safety reasons we limit the number of people on site–12 volunteers per house per day. To schedule, please contact your sponsor group’s volunteer coordinator. Volunteers new to Habitat and not affiliated with one of our sponsor groups must complete an application. Contact Ellen McNally, Habitat’s Volunteer Coordinator, at (203) 785-0794 or emcnally@habitatgnh.org for more information or visit the Volunteer section of the website.)

CARS FOR HOMES™

Did you know that the automobile is the most heavily recycled consumer product? 94% of the metal in a car is recycled! When you donate a car, truck, boat, RV or other vehicle to Cars for Homes™, Habitat’s vehicle donation program, it is “recycled” to help Habitat build decent, affordable homes for low income working families.

For more information on the Cars for Homes™ program, call (877) 277-4344 (toll free) or visit www.carsforhomes.org for more information. Be sure to indicate you would like the donation to be directed to Habitat for Humanity of Greater New Haven!
