Homeownership Program Presentation and Applications Available from October 15-31, 2024

Habitat for Humanity of Greater New Haven offers a Homeownership Program that will prepare individuals and families to purchase their first home. Some members of the Homeownership Program may choose to purchase a home with Habitat for Humanity but you will also be introduced to other agencies and resources that can help you on your homebuying journey.

Please note that your application is for participation in the Homeownership Program, it is not an application for a mortgage on any Habitat home. Acceptance into the Homeownership Program does not guarantee that you will purchase a home from our organization.

Dedication of 264 Russell Street: Sunday, April 21 at 1:30 p.m.

We waited for winter to end and now we are ready to join the Wahidi family for a springtime celebration on Russell Street!

We hope you will join us at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, April 21 as we officially dedicate the home and ‘pass the hammer’ to Habitat homebuyer Abdullah. Anyone who worked on this home, donated funds, or would love to attend a joyous gathering is welcome. We hope to see you there!

Special thanks to community build Raise the Roof and Eversource for sponsoring the construction of 264 Russell Street. Additional thanks to the 600 volunteers who hammered, cut, measured, painted, laid flooring, hung doors, and so much more in the process of building this home. We love seeing individual volunteers, businesses, organizations, religious communities, clubs, families, and friends come together to build with us!

Kickoff at 35 Nelson Street- February 24 at 9:00 a.m.

we have been working to prepare this site for several weeks and are thrilled to have volunteers join us to start this project! 35 Nelson Street is the future home of Habitat homebuyers Christ and Stephanie and their two children.

Join us for a kick off event on February 24 at 9:00 a.m. as we celebrate the beginning of homebuilding on this property. 35 Nelson Street is the first Habitat home being built in Morris Cove so that adds even more excitement to an already joyous ceremony. Christ is also a proud veteran of the U. S. Army and is the third veteran to partner with us in owning a Habitat home. We thank him and his family for their service.

Looking to be the first to build on this home? Signups are open now for individual and group volunteers through March and additional dates will be added in the next few weeks. Log into VolunteerUp or email Allison Mangles for more info. April and May group volunteer dates are filling quickly so be sure to reach out soon if you would like to volunteer this spring. We look forward to seeing you on Nelson Street!
