Habitat for Humanity of Greater New Haven/Sleeping Giant Build

Announces Ninth Annual Chili Bowl – February 12, 2022

(January 5, 2022) Sleeping Giant Build’s Ninth Annual Chili Bowl is planned for Saturday, February 12, 2022, from 6:30-8:30PM. Proceeds from this virtual event will help raise funds for its thirteenth Habitat for Humanity home. The upcoming Chili Bowl will feature chilis donated by five area restaurants. After guests pickup their chili sampler package, they will join the Chili Bowl on Zoom for a fun evening of music, games, a chili cooking class, and an opportunity to join the “chili showdown” and vote for their favorite chilis. The event will raise additional funds through an online silent auction. The auction will open on Friday, February 11.

Chili Bowl planning committee chair Teresa Nakouzi commented that “a variety of tasty chilis to sample, an opportunity to vote for their favorite chilis, great music, fun team trivia, hilarious party games, and tips from a top chili chef are sure to make this an incredible evening for our guests. Join us and help support a family’s Habitat for Humanity home!”

Admission to the Chili Bowl is $35 and includes chili samples, bread, dessert, and access to all entertainment. Tickets are available at bit.ly/sgbchili. All are welcome to bid in the silent auction at http://32auctions.com/chili22.

COVID-19 Health and Safety Update: May 20

The CDC and State of Connecticut updated their guidance for COVID-19 Health and Safety Protocols this week. With these updates, we have changed our mask wearing policy at the New Haven County ReStore in Wallingford. Customers and donors who are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 no longer need to wear a mask in the ReStore. We ask that all shoppers continue to keep their distance from others and refrain from shopping at the ReStore if experiencing any symptoms of COVID-19.

All health and safety protocols, including mask wearing, will remain in place on the build sites until at least the end of this month. We will evaluate our policies at the end of May and will update all volunteers of any changes when they are made.

If you have any questions about what to expect when visiting the ReStore or volunteering on our build sites please feel free to contact us at 203-785-0894 or email info@habitatgnh.org.
